It sounded like a small animal was getting close to us, so everyone grabbed their handle of the weapon.
It was just Grug.
He came back from the camp and told the villagers welcomed to our help.
Grug continued to explain what was going to happen that night
There were two groups of two goblins circling around the camp watching for intruders.
Inside of the camp there were several tents for a living.
The orcs made a fire pit just south of the biggest tent in the camp and spent most of their time there at night.
We carefully moved towards the camp to see it with our eyes.
It looked like Grug’s information was correct.
The torchlight of the two patrols slowly moved clockwise around the camp, and there was a large campfire in the middle.
We had a brief meeting to confirm our tactics.
But Grug suddenly runs into the camp. He saw his friends coming towards us.
“Stop Grug!”, everyone said quietly. But he didn’t.
“Damn it! We are In the middle of the briefing.”, Chase muttered.
Rose shrugged her shoulders, signaling the beginning of the mission.
Chase and I went straight to the fire pit from the north and Rose went around the tent, flanking the orcs.
I tried to keep quiet but unfortunately I couldn’t keep my chain mail from making noise.
The one of the orcs flipped his head around.
It looked like he noticed something, but didn’t realize.
We couldn’t turn back now. I hope he was drunk.
He stopped looking around and looked straight at us.
He threw his cup away pointed his finger right at me.
“Uh-oh! They noticed us.”, Chase said and started to charge.
It looked like the orcs were ready to fight.
I thought it would be easy for us to handle those three orcs but, I’ve been wrong before.
I followed Chase and swing my mace at his left temple, giving him a one-way ticket to hell.
But the orc ducked smiling.
I almost lose my balance swinging so hard.
“What the….”, I said, but luckily I could keep stand in the ground.
Chase ducked the enemy’s attack and hit orc with his sword.
Ah, he did better than I did, I already had a wound.
“Damn it! why doesn’t my body do what I tell it to duling battle?”, I asked myself.
“Am I too nervous? No! I should be calm.
I have enough training and experience to let me easily survive a battle of this level.”, I said to myself.
“Look! It trapped it’s foot in the mud, I continued.
Nice! I could predict his motion.
“Say goodbye to your friends, dumb ass!”, I said and swung my mace.
But the orc accidentally turn its body and twisted. My mace hit the ground.
I felt like my actions were being controlled by the god of bad fortune. I might cursed somehow.
I felt my eyesight fade.
“This isn’t a good time to have flashback!”
The next thing I realized the orc was down.
The flashback had only lasted a fraction of a second.
Chase fought with two orcs behind me.
Rose was running away from the biggest orc around the tent.
I ran to help her fight the monster and grabbed his huge axe.
Chase was fighting with two orcs and got injured.
Fighting two orcs was too much for him.
I cast cure-wounds to back him up, then ran towards Rose.
The biggest orc with the ugliest face was swinging his huge axe and chasing after Rose.
Rose stopped shooting her arrows and concentrated on keeping away from the axe.
The monster had gotten several arrows in his body, but he didn’t care.
The goblins joined the fight and the orc stopped to fight them.
He swung his axe at the goblins who were able to dodge.
It looked like a battle between a cow and flies.
Thanks to the goblins, Rose could keep a safe distance from the orc’s attack.
I entered melee with the orc and swung my mace at him to gauge his reaction.
I hit his shoulder. He fixed his gaze upon me.
It looked like he had taken enough damage to stop him, but he still swung his axe fiercely.
He knew Rose would renew firing at him, but he continued to fight.
My next attack made him fall to his knees.
The goblins stopped moving and focused on bringing him down.
It looked like the end of his life.
But the very next instant his axe came flinging from our blind spot.
It was too late to dodge his attack.
I kept my shield tight to my body, but the power of his attack thundered through my shield and shook my body.
I might have died if I hadn’t blocked the attack.
However the Goblins couldn’t dodge it.
One of them fell to the ground like a sack of potatoes.
Immediately after, he swung his axe back the way it came.
“Damn it! How am I going to survive this?”, I screamed and swung my mace into its orbit.
The trajectory of the axe was changed ever since slightly which probably save my life.
Rose’s arrow hit his chest, drawing his attention to her.
Twisting towards Rose, he slipped in the mud and lost his balance.
This was my chance to strike the final blow.
My mace connected with his head and smashed it.
His body slowly fell to the ground.
He took his last breath.
I surveyed the battlefield.
Chase had finished his battle and he was casting cure wounds.
The big fight was finished.
The goblins were looked very happy to have won the fight.
“Congratulations Grug, but sorry about your buddy who died.”, I said.
“No, no problemo. He is weak, easy to die. I felt he would die tonight.”, Grug said and cackled.
We didn’t have time to congratulate ourselves.
The orc’s friends were coming next morning to pick up the rocks.
We cured each others injuries to prepare for the next fight.
According to Grug’s information, the enemies were coming to the village from the western road.
And one more interesting piece of information was one of them would be a spell caster.
This would be my first time fighting a wizard.
Our current advantage was that we knew where and when they would come.
We gathered all of the information and planned to ambush the enemy at the narrow spot near the village entrance.
Grug gave us a huge rug that was soaked in plenty of some sort of oil.
We laid out the rug on the ground and covered it with fallen leaves.
Such was the plan
We hide behind a tree until the enemy came. When they would come into the trap,
Rose would set them on fire with an arrow.
We took a rest until the enemy appeared.
